Las Vegas Monorail Opens at 4 a.m. to Support the Rock ‘N’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon

Locals can purchase Single-Ride Tickets for $1 at the Sahara Monorail Station

On Dec. 6, 2009, the more than 25,000 runners won’t be the only ones running early on the Las Vegas Strip.  The Las Vegas Monorail will open early on Dec. 6, to help move visitors and spectators along Las Vegas Boulevard South, which will be closed that morning to accommodate the start of the race.

“We are pleased to partner with the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon to provide a quick, convenient and reliable transportation solution while Las Vegas Boulevard is closed to traffic,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of corporate communications for the Las Vegas Monorail. “With Monorail trains arriving every few minutes, visitors can travel from the Sahara to MGM Grand in 15 minutes or less.”

From the MGM Grand, race participants and spectators will need to cross the Strip on the pedestrian bridges to the Excalibur, and ride the people mover south to Mandalay Bay.

Local marathon participants and spectators can purchase a single-ride ticket for $1 with a valid Nevada ID (limit two tickets per Nevada ID) at the Sahara Monorail Station customer service booth. The booth will be open from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Visitors can purchase a single-ride ticket for $5 or save with unlimited ride passes. Tickets can be purchased online at www.lvmonorail.com or at any of our ticket vending machines (TVMs)  located near the entrance of each of the seven Las Vegas Monorail stations: MGM Grand; Horseshoe/Paris Station; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/Imperial Palace; Las Vegas Convention Center; Las Vegas Hilton; and the Sahara.
