Environmental Efficiency

Las Vegas Monorail carries nearly 5 million passengers each year. Additionally, the Monorail carries an average of 67,000 passengers during citywide trade shows, which would equal 22,334 taxi trips per show.

The Monorail system is 100% electric and runs zero-emission trains, reducing emissions by more than 27 tons and more than 2 million vehicle miles annually in Southern Nevada! The Monorail uses regenerative braking, which works by storing excess energy that accumulates when train cars are slowed, saving up to 20% of the system’s energy.

Annually, the Las Vegas Monorail improves our environment by eliminating an estimated 2.1 million vehicle miles from Southern Nevada’s major roadways, which is equal to more than 9 trips to the moon!
