Former Presidents and First Ladies in Las Vegas

Presidents Day at Lake Mead

Ronald and Nancy Reagan were frequent visitors in Las Vegas. They were first introduced to the city before Ronald Reagan’s political career began. The two often visited throughout the ’60s and ’70s. They would most often boat and fish at Lake Mead.

Today, there are dozens of activities to be enjoyed at Lake Mead, including fishing, boating, hiking, camping, and more. Las Vegas Visitors might enjoy the Historic Railroad Trail. A smooth, 7.5-mile trail with panoramic views of Lake Mead.

Spend time on land but live your life on the water. For the lake is big and my boat is small. Find the courage. Make some waves. 🚤💪🏻 But…..before going out on the water, check weather forecasts and look for storm warning flags at marinas. If a storm breaks while you are out, seek shelter in a protected cove immediately and wait until the storm passes. Lightning is also a hazard on open water. Water levels in Lakes Mead and Mohave change throughout the year. Always approach the shore with caution and watch for shallows and submerged debris. Thank you to visitor @fragatafilms for sharing this photo. #LoveLakeMead #LoveLakeMohave #lasvegas #hooverdam #nevada #travel #wanderlust #📷 #getoutside #aroundtheworld #passionpassport #beautifuldestinations #igtravel #explore #travelgram #instatravel #vacation #adventure #photooftheday #boat #fishing #boatlife #boats #unitedbywater #fishingtrip #love #onthewaterfest

Piero’s Italian Cuisine

Piero’s Italian Cuisine has been a staple in Las Vegas since the 1980s. The old school, Italian style food, attracted both former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton. One peek at their menu, and it’s easy to see why. You can find Piero’s Italian Cuisine on Convention Center Drive. The restaurant is within walking distance from the Convention Center and our Convention Center Station.

Tao Asian Bistro at The Venetian

In 2017, Michelle Obama visited Tao Asian Bistro for her birthday dinner. According to Eater, they “dined on the braised short ribs, satay of Chilean sea bass, lobster wontons, and potstickers.” If you order the same, you’ll be in good company. For holiday weekends (hello, Presidents Day Weekend) or special occasions, we recommend that you make reservations for Tao Asian Bistro online.

Container Park in Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Container Park is a unique shopping destination in Las Vegas. Located on the corner of Fremont and Seventh, the Container Park is made of 30 shipping containers and houses just as many boutiques, bars, and restaurants.

In 2016, Container Park received a visit from former President Bill Clinton. We guess he just had to check out an entire outdoor destination made from shipping containers.

When you see the 55-foot-tall steel praying mantis sculpture, you will know you’ve arrived. While you’re there, check out local boutiques, including Lavo Cigars, a magic shop, Atomic Scooters, Art Box, and Third & Arrow featuring unique pieces from local brands and artisans.
